Why Not Polyester?

We avoid polyester for reasons that genuinely matter to your skin and your comfort. While it may be affordable, polyester comes with drawbacks that affect how you feel throughout the day. It doesn’t let your skin breathe; it traps heat, leading to sweat, stickiness, and constant discomfort in warm, humid weather. Its synthetic nature is unmistakable — polyester is, after all, a petroleum-based plastic, and it can never offer the soft, natural touch that linen, cotton, or silk provide. Over time, it ages poorly, developing pilling, shine in friction areas, and losing its shape far sooner than natural fabrics. It also holds onto odour, absorbing body smell and refusing to release it even after repeated washes. Beyond comfort, polyester has a heavy environmental cost: it is non-biodegradable, sheds microplastics, and demands high energy to produce. Most importantly, it doesn’t align with slow, thoughtful fashion — polyester is a shortcut, while natural fabrics are a commitment to quality, longevity, and a better experience for you.
